Booking choice: The Forum and Palatine tour, from $53 per person. Check dates Tour details
The open-air Forum is stone. The colour is indoors: Augustus's painted rooms, a church whose walls carry six layers of frescoes, the marble floor of the Senate house. The Park keeps these interiors on a separate list, opens them with timed capacity limits because crowds damage the paintings, and sells them through the Forum Pass SUPER.
The list below is the Park's own, from the Forum Pass SUPER page as of October 2026.
The quick answer
The SUPER sites are about a dozen interiors in the Forum and on the Palatine, including the House of Augustus, the Aula Isiaca, Santa Maria Antiqua, the Temple of Romulus, the Curia and the Domus Tiberiana halls. The €18 Forum Pass SUPER opens all of them, and so do the €24 Full Experience tickets and the 24h Only Arena ticket; the ordinary Colosseum ticket does not. They open from 9.30 a.m. until 1 hour before closing, 3.30 p.m. this winter. The House of Augustus is closed on Mondays and the House of Livia is shut for restoration.

What are the Roman Forum SUPER sites?

Which tickets include the SUPER sites?
The Forum Pass SUPER (€18), the three Full Experience tickets (€24) and the 24h Only Arena ticket (€18). The ordinary 24h Colosseum ticket does not.
Side by side, with the Colosseum part each one adds:
| Ticket | Price | SUPER sites | Colosseum | Valid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forum Pass SUPER | €18 | Yes | No | One day, no slot |
| Full Experience Arena | €24 | Yes | Levels plus arena | 2 days |
| Full Experience Underground and Arena | €24 | Yes | Arena and underground | 2 days |
| Full Experience Attic | €24 | Yes | Attic and panoramic lift | 2 days |
| Only Arena (24h) | €18 | Yes | Arena only, 20 min | 24 hours |
| Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine (24h) | €18 | No (Forum Museum yes; Domus Tiberiana halls with a supplement) | Levels, no arena | 24 hours |
All six add the €2 online fee. None of them gets you into a SUPER site on the first Sunday of the month: on free days the sites stay closed, and the Forum Pass SUPER isn't valid. Full ticket details are in the Roman Forum tickets guide.
Prefer a guide in the open-air ruins? The Forum-and-Palatine tour spends 45 minutes in the Forum and ends in the Domus Tiberiana.
Check dates for the Forum and Palatine tourWhat is inside the House of Augustus and the Aula Isiaca?
Some of the finest Roman wall painting anywhere: Augustus's private rooms in late Second Style, and an apsed hall painted around 30 BC with lotus flowers, snakes and symbols of Isis.
Octavian was born on the Palatine in 63 BC and chose to live there, which is why every emperor after him did too. The House of Augustus had a public wing tied to the Temple of Apollo and a private one. In the private rooms, the Room of the Masks paints the front of a theatre stage, and the Room of the Pine Festoons has black-and-white mosaic floors. The public rooms, up to the little studiolo, hold what the Park calls perhaps the most refined examples of late Second Style painting. It is closed on Mondays.
Nearby, the Aula Isiaca was found in 1912 under the Domus Flavia and belonged to the same Augustan complex. The Loggia Mattei was painted in the 1520s by Baldassarre Peruzzi's workshop; its wall frescoes went to the Hermitage in 1846, and its zodiac roundels came back from the Metropolitan Museum on loan in the 1990s.

What is inside Santa Maria Antiqua, the Temple of Romulus and the Curia?
A church painted over four centuries, a round temple with medieval frescoes, and the Senate house with its marble floor.
Santa Maria Antiqua was found in 1900 at the foot of the Palatine. Its walls carry paintings from the 6th to the 9th centuries, until an earthquake brought it down in 847. One stretch of wall shows six painted layers on top of each other, from the 4th or 5th century to the 8th; the chapel of Theodotus is covered with the martyrdom of Saints Quiricus and Julitta (official page). For us it is the single best room in the Park.
The Temple of Romulus on the Via Sacra is usually read as Maxentius's shrine to his son Valerius Romulus, who died in 309. Inside are 13th-century paintings and a Madonna attributed to Jacopo Torriti. When an exhibition is on, it opens to every visitor.
The Curia Iulia is the Senate house Caesar began and Augustus finished in 29 BC. Inside: Diocletian's inlaid marble floor and a hall 21 metres high (official page). The bronze door is a copy; the original is in San Giovanni in Laterano.

Domus Tiberiana: what is free and what needs a supplement?
The walkway through the palace's arches is on the ordinary 24h ticket. The seven exhibition halls need a supplement on that ticket and are included with the Forum Pass SUPER and Full Experience.
The Domus Tiberiana was the first real imperial palace, on the north-west slope of the Palatine, begun after the fire of 64 AD and grown by Domitian and Hadrian to about 4 hectares. Pope John VII made it his seat in the 7th century, and the Farnese family laid their gardens on its terraces in the 16th. It reopened in September 2023 after decades shut.
The halls (official page) sit in Hadrian's substructures: seven rooms, four of them linked with views over the Forum, two multimedia rooms with a film and a holographic model, and a tactile route. Look for the stucco on the so-called Caligula Bridge. On the ordinary ticket you pay a supplement for them; with a Forum Pass SUPER you just walk in.
The Forum-and-Palatine tour ends with 15 minutes here. Bronwynne, in February 2026: “Seeing the Domus Tiberiana was spectacular!”

The ruins with a guide, then 15 minutes in the reopened Domus Tiberiana: Forum, Palatine and palace in 1 hour 45 minutes.
Explore the Forum and Palatine tour Tour detailsWhen are the SUPER sites open, and how busy do they get?
From 9.30 a.m. until 1 hour before the Park closes: 3.30 p.m. from 25 October 2026 to the end of February. Entry is by capacity at the door, not by booked time.
- Daily hours: the Park opens at 9 a.m., the SUPER sites at 9.30. From 25 October the Park closes at 4.30 p.m., so the sites close at 3.30.
- Closures: the House of Augustus on Mondays; the House of Livia for restoration; the Palatine Museum above the ground floor for maintenance.
- Capacity: small rooms let in small groups. Mid-morning queues at the House of Augustus and Santa Maria Antiqua are normal; first thing and after 2 p.m. are quieter.
- Free Sundays: all SUPER sites closed.
Winter hours in full are in the 2026-27 winter hours post.
What route strings the SUPER sites together?
Start at the Arch of Titus at 9.30, climb the Palatine while it's quiet, come down to the Forum through the Domus Tiberiana and finish at the Curia. Allow 4 to 5 hours.
- Arch of Titus gate, 9.30: the Roman Forum Museum is right of the arch in the Santa Maria Nova cloister.
- Palatine top: the House of Augustus (not Mondays), then the Aula Isiaca and Loggia Mattei, then the Palatine Museum's ground floor.
- Farnese gardens and the Domus Tiberiana halls: shade, a drinking fountain and the best view over the Forum.
- Down to the Forum: Santa Maria Antiqua at the foot of the slope.
- Across the Forum: the Curia, then the Temple of Romulus on the Via Sacra.
- Imperial Fora route from the Curia, if there is time before it closes.
On a Monday, swap the House of Augustus for the 11.30 a.m. Horrea Piperataria tour and start on the Forum side instead. Gates and lifts for each end are in the entrances guide.

Is the Forum Pass SUPER worth €18 without the Colosseum?
Yes, if you've seen the Colosseum or love painting and history. No, for a first visit: then take a €24 Full Experience ticket and get both, SUPER sites included.
At the same price as the ordinary ticket, the pass trades a crowded 75 minutes in the Colosseum for no time slot, the Imperial Fora route and half a dozen painted interiors most visitors never enter. For a returning visitor that is an easy call.
First-timers want the Colosseum, and should have it. The €24 Full Experience tickets add the SUPER sites to the Colosseum over two consecutive days. Another route in: the Park's Friday evening tour of the Forum costs €35 and includes a Forum Pass SUPER valid the next day.
